Fish River Canyon
Eroded over many millennia, the Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world (after the Grand Canyon). Set in a harsh and desolate landscape, where the climate is almost constantly hot and dry, this spectacular natural phenomenon is one of the major attractions in the beautiful Southern Region of Namibia.
The Fish River Canyon itself is some 160km long, 27km wide and up to 550m deep. The warm springs of Ai Ais afford you the possibility to swim and relax in this stunning environment, and the popular Fish River Hiking Trail starts and ends here.
Drought-resistant succulents such as the eerily beautiful Kokerboom and Quiver Tree, are found here.
